these photos of the flames shooting through the roof of c&h enterprises in fremont. now, they were taken from a business just across the way on boggs terrace. cbs 5 reporter mark sayre is there, and the firefight is still going on. mark? >> reporter: and ken, investigators plan to return here in the morning to try to pinpoint the exact cause of this fire, which could be seen throughout fremont. tonight, the fire is still smoldering c&h enterprises building. fire officials say a grinding operation involving metal shavings was underway at the time the fire broke out. employees ran for safety. >> jay came running into the office. i could see the smoke billowing over the roof to the front, and he said, call 911, we have a fire! and it just started getting worse after that. >> did everyone get out? >> everyone got out and everybody is safe. >> reporter: the first 911 calls came in around 1:45 this afternoon and the fire quickly went to three alarms. since this is a commercial building with chemicals on sight, the fremont fire department said the potential for danger is very real and entered a shel

was just starting at a fremont business yesterday afternoon. they show flames shooting through the roof and a towering column of black smoke. the fire destroyed c & h enterprises on boggs terrace in fremont and some of the neighbors were told to stay indoors. cbs 5 reporter anne makovec is at the machine shop that burned in fremont with the very latest. good morning, anne. >> reporter: good morning. the smoke has cleared here but the investigation has yet to begin as you mentioned. investigators are expected to be here this morning. once they make sure that the building has been shored up, significant damage to the building that you can see here behind me. in fact, part of the roof chanced during that fire. here's that video from yesterday afternoon. it sent up a huge plume of black smoke when it started here at c & h enterprises at around 12:45 p.m. the company specializes in machining and welding precision parts. fire officials say a grinding operation involving metal shavings was under way when this broke out. the employees ran for their lives. everyone got out okay. then there was c

investigators hope to get their first look my a gutted machine shop in fremont later today. a fast-moving fire engulfed the plant yesterday afternoon. nobody was hurt but it wiped out nearly everything inside. they make components in the high-tech industry. about 60 people work there. they will learn later about the company's plans to reopen another another location. amy hollyfield will have more on the fire in a live report at 5:30. >> san jose police have revealed the identity of a young man who was shot to death earlier this week. 18-year-old john cody sonneberg died on tuesday after being shot inside a pickup. at first it appeared that he had been hurt in accident but paramedics discovered he had been shot when they tried to help him. >>> this morning, oakland police are investigating that city's latest homicide. police found a man shot in the middle of a residential street in east oakland yet. this was the scene from sky7hd. it happened at 83rd avenue and "e" street east of the coliseum. they closed off the block for several hours. no word on motive or possible suspects. >> cabinet week i

to yesterday. 11 degrees warmer in fremont and livermore with the north bay even warmer as well. we still saw some 30s this morning. chilly in napa. cloudy and a warmer day today and tomorrow. cooler weather heads our way on tuesday and with that we will look for a storm system to arrive on wednesday. it's a fast mover. anywhere from a quarter of an inch to three quarters of an inch of rain is anticipated for wednesday into thursday in the north bay. high temperatures today in the 60s. that's a little bit above normal. we should be in the upper 50s, to about 60. so a modest warmup today and tomorrow. and that's due to a slight offshore flow compliments of a ridge of high pressure that is building in to the eastern pacific, and as it does we are looking at that flow bringing some gusty winds down from the higher elevations. and also with the setup like this we are looking for a high fire danger in san diego. so really much of california will be dominated by this area of high pressure which deflects the storm systems to the north and brings that sustenance and dryer, warmer air our way. fast fo

yesterday but it's really fremont and livermore that are experiencing the much warmer conditions. not much change-up in san rafael, and subtle changes along the coast in san francisco. boy, a pretty mild to start out. just in the last hour numbers coming up along the shoreline. we will look for a little bit of fog here and there, but overall with the cloudy skies this morning that's keeping us a little warmer. then by the afternoon the winds will take over and that's going to usher in a slightly milder air mass. high pressure over the bay area continues to bring that sub continuance and that warming today and tomorrow. but by tuesday it will be coming to a screeching halt as we look for another wind shift. the temperatures will drop and then we will look for showers to head our way late tuesday into wednesday. so some of the forecasted highs today low to mid-60s, and, yeah, for early december, middle of december, that is warmer than what we should be. we should see the upper 50s stick around. but not happening today and tomorrow. in fact, 8 degrees above average in oakland, as well as sant

in the bay area. the sisters work out of this quiet peaceful church in fremont. they don't work directly with the victims. instead, they work with local organizations that reach out to women who are forced into prostitution, providing those agencies with money and donating gifts to the victims. they also partner with the fbi to find help and resources for those victims, though the sisters admit they were reluctant to do so at first. >> i need the fbi because of the work that i'm doing. fbi needs us because we're that link to the community. >> reporter: and because of their work, the fbi today honored the sisters with the prestigious directors community leadership award. the sisters say the award is a recognition for all the organizations that fight human trafficking. >> it couldn't have been awarded to a more deserving organization. >> reporter: nola runs a nonprofit in oakland known as messy which empowers girls exploited by the sex trade industry. she says the sisters are one of the reasons why they can continue to help victims in the east bay. >> we stand on their shoulders. we would
